How to connect & post to Facebook Pages

Requirements

  • A Facebook Page that you admin (personal profiles cannot be posted to via the API).
  • Your Facebook account must have the Page admin or editor role.
  • Your Facebook app must be in Live mode (or your account added as a Tester/Developer).
  • The following permissions must be granted: pages_show_list, pages_read_engagement, pages_manage_posts, business_management.

1) Connect your Facebook Page

  1. Open the connection page.
  2. Click Connect Facebook and log in with your Facebook account.
  3. When prompted, select all Pages you want to grant access to (or at minimum the Page you intend to post to).
  4. Allow all requested permissions.
  5. After a successful connect, your Page name will appear in My Connections on the dashboard.
Tip: If you manage multiple Pages, you can connect all of them in one flow and then create separate Post Groups per Page.

2) Create a Post Group

A Post Group bundles your prompts and schedule. Each run generates a caption (and optionally an image) and publishes it to your Facebook Page.

  1. Go to Post Groups and click Create Post Group.
  2. Select Facebook as the platform and choose your connected Page.
  3. Enter a Name (e.g., "Daily Business Tips").
  4. Provide your Caption Prompt and optional Image Prompt.
    • Use [[TEXT_OUTPUT]] in the image prompt to reference the generated caption.
    • Optionally supply a CSV URL and reference it with [[FEED_URL]] in any prompt.
  5. Set Run every (minutes) and an optional Start time.
  6. Click Create Post Group.
Note: Facebook Page posts support text, images, and links. Video posting may require additional processing time.

3) Test Prompts (preview)

Before scheduling, generate a one‑off preview to validate your prompts.

  1. In the Create or Edit Post Group form, click Test prompts.
  2. Review the preview caption and image.
  3. Tweak your prompts and test again until you're happy with the result.
Heads‑up: The preview is generated using your current prompts but is not posted to Facebook until you explicitly click "Post Preview".

4) Post a preview to your Facebook Page

When you're happy with the preview, post it immediately without waiting for the schedule.

  1. After generating a preview, click Post Preview to Channel.
  2. Wait for the confirmation message. If successful, a link to the Facebook post may appear.
Requirement: You must have a valid Facebook Page connection selected, and your preview must include a caption. An image is recommended but not always required for text-only posts.

5) Schedule your group

  1. Ensure the Post Group Status is set to active.
  2. Set a sensible interval (e.g., 1440 minutes = daily, 10080 = weekly).
  3. Optionally set a Start time to align with your audience's timezone and peak engagement hours.
Tip: Facebook Pages typically see highest engagement mid-morning and early afternoon on weekdays. Use multiple Post Groups with different intervals for varied content themes.

6) View metrics

Use the Post Performance panel to track engagement across your Facebook Page posts.

  • Select a date range and your Facebook Page connection.
  • Click Refresh to fetch updated metrics such as likes, comments, shares, and reach.

Troubleshooting

  • No Pages listed after connecting: Make sure you granted access to at least one Page during the OAuth flow. Re-run the connection and select your Pages when prompted.
  • Permission errors when posting: Ensure your Facebook app is in Live mode and that pages_manage_posts is approved. In Development mode, only app admins/testers can publish.
  • Post published but no image: Verify your image prompt is set and that the image generation step completed without error in the preview.
  • Schedule not running: Check the Post Group is active, the interval is > 0, and your backend Lambdas are running correctly.
  • Token expired: Facebook Page access tokens can expire. Re-run the connection flow to refresh them.

FAQ

Can I post to a personal Facebook profile?
No. The Facebook API only allows posting to Pages (not personal profiles) via the API. You must use a Facebook Page.
Can I connect multiple Facebook Pages?
Yes — connect all Pages in one OAuth flow. Then create a separate Post Group for each Page you want to automate.
Do Facebook posts support images and video?
Yes. You can post text-only, image posts, or video posts. Videos may take additional time to process on Facebook's end.
How do credits work?
Credits are debited for AI caption and image/video generation. If you run out, previews and scheduled posts may pause until credits are topped up.
